Library kicks off summer with free family activities

Heginbotham Library is kicking off June with its kids’ summer reading programs.

“It’s a Crime Not to Read” is the theme that kids in fifth grade and up (2017-18 school year) will explore this summer with a movie, games, snacks and plenty of mystery! They will meet Fridays, June 2, 9, 16 and 30, from 1-3 p.m. at Heginbotham Library, 539 S. Baxter Ave.

Children 3 years old through fourth grade (2017-18 school year) will learn how “Reading is My Super Power” with books, snacks, crafts and prizes at the annual summer program. Registration is Wednesday, June 7, any time between 1-1:45 p.m. at the library. Activity times are Wednesdays, June 14, 21, 28 and July 5, from 1-1:45 p.m.

For questions, call Heginbotham Library at 970-854-2597.

Free outdoor movie nights are fun for the entire family
Carrying on its tradition of old-fashioned outdoor movie nights, Heginbotham Library is planning two family events in June on the library lawn.

“Adventures of the Great Mouse Detective” will be showing on the big screen Friday, June 2, and “The Apple Dumpling Gang” is set for Friday, June 30.

There is free admission with concessions for sale. The library grounds will open at 8 p.m. with the movie beginning at dusk. Don’t forget to take a blanket, chair and bug spray.
