Local cataract surgery now available at MMH

New to the Melissa Memoral Hospital specialty clinic, Dr. Randall Smith is set to see patients in Holyoke on Friday, Feb. 16. The ophthalmologist from Fort Collins will be a welcomed addition to the existing vision care offered at MMH, as cataract surgery will now be available to people in and around Holyoke.
Presently, Smith is scheduled to be at the MMH specialty clinic monthly, but additional dates may be added, should the demand necessitate it.
Smith completed his undergraduate studies at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where he studied biomedical engineering. He graduated from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York in 1989.
His residency was completed at Medical College of Wisconsin Eye Institute in Ophthalmology, and he was certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in June 1995. Smith worked in New Jersey before making the move to Colorado in 1996. He has worked for over 20 years at the Eye Center of Northern Colorado, P.C. in Fort Collins.
Throughout that same time, his hospital appointments have included Poudre Valley Hospital, Medical Center of the Rockies and Surgery Center of Northern Colorado. Additionally, Smith is involved in the following professional societies: American Academy of Ophthalmology, Christian Medical and Dental Society, and Colorado Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
