Local churches plan Christmas services

With Christmas on the way, many area churches have special services planned for Christmas Eve on Friday, Dec. 24, and Christmas Day on Saturday, Dec. 25.

First Baptist Church and Vida Abundante are combining for a Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m. The Dec. 26 services will be regular for both churches: 10:30 a.m. for FBC and 5:30 p.m. for Vida Abundante.

First Christian Church and Cornerstone Ministry Church are hosting a community Christmas Eve service at 6:30 p.m. at the Heginbotham Auditorium in Holyoke JR/SR High School. Cornerstone will not have service Sunday, Dec. 26.  

First United Methodist Church’s candlelight service is Christmas Eve at 7 p.m.

Holyoke Assembly of God will have a Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m.

Holyoke Church of Christ will have its regular Sunday service at 9 a.m. Bible class will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Pleasant Valley United Methodist will have a candlelight Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m.

St. Patrick Catholic Church will have Mass on Christmas Eve at 4 p.m. and Christmas Day at 8 a.m.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst will have a Christmas Eve worship service at 4:30 p.m. Christmas Day worship service will begin at 9 a.m.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Venango, Nebraska, will have a Christmas Eve worship service at 6:30 p.m. A New Year’s Eve service is also scheduled for Dec. 31 at 5 p.m.

Seventh-day Adventist Church will have a Christmas Day service at 11 a.m.

Venango Community Church will have a Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m.

Zion Lutheran Church will have a candlelight service at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve and a Christmas Day service at 9 a.m.

A Christmas Eve candlelight service will also be held at 5 p.m. at the Olde Holyoke Square.
