Lockwood, Smith marry in South Dakota
Whitney Lea Lockwood and Landon Allen Smith were united in marriage Feb. 24, 2018, in front of family and friends at 2:30 p.m. in the beautiful snow-covered backdrop setting of the mountains at Spearfish Canyon Lodge in Lead, South Dakota.
The bride is the daughter of Scott and Susan Lockwood of Kimball, Nebraska. She is the granddaughter of Jack and Joan Lockwood of Kimball and Dayle and Sadie Williamson of Lincoln, Nebraska.
The groom is the son of David and Rhonda Smith of Holyoke. He is the grandson of Larry and Mary Lou Mehring of Red Bud, Illinois, and the late Wendell and Ramona Smith.
Dalton Lockwood, brother of the bride from Kimball, was the officiant for the ceremony with Morgan Elmer of Buffalo, Wyoming, serving as the matron of honor. Bridesmaids included Tiersyn Taylor and Loni Vosika of Buffalo, friends of the bride. They wore floor-length gray dresses and carried bouquets of rustic white flowers accented with pinecones and greenery. Marissa Smith, sister of the groom from Dallas, Texas, was honored by being escorted down the aisle by the groom. Personal attendant was Shae Starkey of Buffalo.
Tanner Smith, brother of the groom, and Daniel Koch, friend of the groom, both of Holyoke, served as co-best men. Joining them as a groomsman was Zach Krueger, friend of the groom, also of Holyoke. Groomsmen wore jeans, a white shirt, gray ties and cowboy boots. Their boutonniere was a single white rustic flower with accents of greenery and a pinecone, matching the bridesmaid’s bouquets.
The bride was escorted down a beautiful wooden staircase to her awaiting groom by her father. The ceremony was performed in front of a majestic stone fireplace adorned with rustic bouquets of flowers and pinecones and inspirational quotes on chalkboard displays. The fireplace was accented with floor to ceiling windows displaying the picturesque backdrop of the snow-covered mountains. Music chosen by the bride and groom included a variety of meaningful songs shared by the couple.
The bride walked down the aisle wearing a beautiful long, white, sweetheart neckline wedding gown adorned with lace appliques and a cathedral length veil. Her bouquet was an arrangement of rustic white flowers with pinecones and greenery accents. The groom wore jeans, white shirt with a striped gray tie, black suit coat and cowboy boots. The groom’s boutonniere consisted of a rustic white flower, pinecone and greenery accents.
The bride and groom are both graduates of the University of Wyoming. The bride is an emergency nurse at Campbell County Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming, and the groom is a reclamation engineer employed at Cloud Peak Energy Antelope Mine located 70 miles south of Gillette.
After their honeymoon snowmobiling and sightseeing in Yellowstone and Cooke City, Montana, Whitney and Landon are residing in Gillette.
