Loutensock selected to attend Colorado Girls State program

    Representing Holyoke at the 71st session of Colorado Girls State, HHS junior Kyra Loutensock was selected by Holyoke Unit No. 90 of the American Legion Auxiliary. The statewide program will be held at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley from June 10-16.
    Colorado Girls State is a highly selective program, choosing only young women with superior academic accomplishment and decorum. Enrollment is limited to 300 delegates who have completed their junior year of high school with above average academic standing, have high moral character, have an interest in government and current events, and possess leadership qualities.
    The objectives are to develop a broader knowledge of the two-party system, to instill greater understanding of American traditions, and to stimulate desire to participate in and maintain democratic government while exposing the citizens to a college atmosphere and encourage a desire of higher education.
