McCarty on board at Family Practice
Dr. Craig McCarty is excited to continue practicing in rural health facilities. Family Practice of Holyoke welcomed the new provider to the Melissa Memorial Hospital family in September.
McCarty is offering a broad spectrum of family practice care to patients of all ages.
His motto: “To help people be happy, healthy and safe.” The doctor emphasized he wants to come alongside people to help them make good decisions for their health.
McCarty came to Colorado after practicing in a Wyoming town centered around agriculture and mining. For the last five years he’s been working at the clinic in Haxtun and has been falling in love with life in Phillips County.
McCarty and his wife, Breck, who is a retired doctor, say they really like Phillips County and its rural culture.
McCarty grew up in rural Colorado on the Front Range, graduating from Niwot High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in math and molecular biology from the University of Colorado in addition to a master’s in wildlife biology and a doctorate in epidemiology from Colorado State University.
McCarty attended St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine in 2004.
When he’s not working, McCarty enjoys hunting, fishing and restoring antiques. He has three children: 9-year-old Jacob, high schooler Clay and college student Nicole.
