MMH celebrates National Nurses Week

In 1982, a congressional resolution designated May 6 as National Recognition Day for Nurses. A few years later, in 1990, the American Nurse Association expanded the recognition to create National Nurses Week, which is a yearly celebration from May 6 to May 12. This week is a time to honor and show appreciation for the dedicated and hardworking nurses who care for us and our loved ones at medical facilities such as Melissa Memorial Hospital.

Nurses play an essential role in the health care system, providing care, compassion, and expertise to patients and their families. They work tirelessly around the clock, often under stressful circumstances, to ensure their patients receive the best possible care.

During Nurses Appreciation Week, there are many ways to show appreciation. Writing a thank-you note, volunteering at a medical facility or simply saying “thank you” to a nurse can go a long way. Nurses Appreciation Week is a time to honor and celebrate the dedication and hard work of nurses who make a significant impact on our lives and the health care system as a whole.
