MMH Foundation elects new board members
As the dust settled from hosting the “Fairy Tale” Legacy Event, the Melissa Memorial Hospital Foundation elected new officers in March, and honored their outgoing president, Paula Carper. She had served two consecutive terms as president.
During her tenure, which began in 2017, Carper oversaw numerous events and projects that included raising approximately $1.3 million for Melissa Memorial Hospital. These funds were used to award scholarships for Holyoke High School students and hospital employees, contributed toward two hospital nurses receiving their Master’s Degrees, provided for one of the hospital’s emergency medical technicians to receive Critical Care Certification and established a “Grow Your Own” investment program to recruit physicians. Also, equipment was purchased to provide for hospital care and support such as a cardiac monitor system, six iPads and keyboards for EMTs, a lift for the new ambulance, and new uniforms for the hospital’s emergency responders. Additionally, her leadership helped raise funds for the support and development of Melissa Memorial Hospital’s Chemo Center and 3D Mammography.
“It was an honor to serve as president,” she said, “and I look forward to working with the new officers as we continue in our mission to serve our community and hospital.”
