Mother Nature hits hard in Sunday lightning strike

If the branches on West Kellogg Street weren’t enough evidence, the shredded trunk of a large tree was hard to miss after a storm Sunday night, April 16. Police officers Mark Werts and Mary Seeley are on the scene early Monday morning to assess the damage of the lightning strike at 640 S. Belford, the home of Casey and Bobbie Blake. Nearby resident Karla Satterlee said after the large boom, she could see the entire tree glowing in red, blue and white hues but luckily nothing caught fire. For safety reasons, the tree was cut down Monday.
