National Day of Prayer to take place on May 4

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry Truman.

A group will meet Thursday, May 4, at 5 p.m. in front of Phillips County Court House. They will split into teams to pray for family, church, business, education or government as they walk or drive to specific locations in town.

From 6:30-7:30 p.m., prayer will be held at Holyoke First Christian Church, with local leaders praying for the nation, state and community.

Everyone is welcome to attend one or both times of prayer.
