New Spanish service kicks off Saturday at First Christian Church

Always looking for new ministry opportunities, First Christian Church in Holyoke is pleased to announce the launch of a new service in Spanish.

A kickoff event is set for this Saturday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. at the church. It will have a concert feel to it, with contemporary worship music featuring vocals, guitar, bass and drums in addition to a message — all in both Spanish and English.

Beginning in November, the Spanish service will be at 7 p.m. on the second Saturday of every month.

Leading the service will be Pastor Marcos Avina and the worship team from Centro de Nueva Esperanza (Center of New Hope), a church in Yuma.

FCC Pastor Mike Brown and Avina have been friends for quite some time and have been brainstorming together on how to bring CNE to Holyoke in God’s timing. It was a vision from God to start another church, said Avina.

He wants to bring the Gospel in a way that people can understand. He also desires for CNE to be a part of the Holyoke community, taking time to understand the needs of the people and praying for the town.
