School board continues look at preschool for fall
IMPERIAL REPUBLICAN, Feb. 20 — Board members and administration at Chase County Schools continue to consider adding a preschool this fall.
While the added preschool hinges on whether they receive a possible $130,000 from the Nebraska Department of Education, Superintendent Larry Lambert said at the Feb. 11 board meeting, “I’m definitely pushing a preschool.”
He presented a Buffett Early Childhood Institute article titled “Early childhood education can build future,” which touts the benefits of preschool. It states that 90% of a child’s brain is formed by age 6.
Lambert said the institute also awards start-up grant funds for preschools, which is being researched as well.
