Rescued cats transferred to Denver
STERLING JOURNAL-ADVOCATE, May 26 — The Sterling Police Department reported Thursday morning that the investigation into a Clark Street home where over 80 cats were captured Wednesday continues. Charges are pending.
SPD found “dozens of cats” exiting through the home’s open front door when officers arrived on scene Wednesday, and investigators ensured that there were no children or other individuals living in the home. They also determined that the property owner was not home.
Three young kittens were found dead in addition to dozens of live cats, according to the SPD.
According to Dr. Bill Fredregill, president of the Logan County Humane Society, the 83 cats and kittens that were caught at the 756-square-foot home Wednesday were transported Thursday morning to the Denver Dumb Friends League. They will remain there until the legal situation is resolved, he said, at which point “I imagine many of them will be available (for adoption).”
