Man arrested in shooting death Saturday

STERLING JOURNAL-ADVOCATE, Aug. 11 — Logan County officials are investigating the apparent shooting death of a Sterling woman over the weekend. The Logan County Sheriff’s Office released a brief statement Monday morning saying that 60-year-old David Rothe of Sterling had been arrested and was being held without bond.

The shooting reportedly occurred at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Deputies were called to 12534 Sugar Mill Road in reference to a trespassing. “Upon arrival, it was determined that a female had been shot during the incident, and medical professionals pronounced her deceased on scene,” the sheriff’s statement said.

The sheriff’s office later identified the victim as 49-year-old Shannon Karin Cromwell of Sterling.
