East Industrial Park business dominates city council meeting
WRAY GAZETTE, Sept. 22 — Wray City Council met for their monthly meeting Sept. 14. One item of new business was a contract offer to buy lot 7 in the Wray East Industrial Park by S & B Processing LLC for $52,000.
It was explained that the lot is wanting to be purchased for the ability to facilitate and shop for a full service U.S. Department of Agriculture custom slaughter and processing facility to be named S & B Processing. It will be a modern and federally inspected facility with a trained team of employees dedicated to quality. The hope is to process cows and pigs in the facility.

SWNCBC receives grants for new construction
GRANT TRIBUNE-SENTINEL, Sept. 22 — The Department of Economic Development announced Sept. 9 that Southwest Nebraska Community Betterment Corporation will receive two Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund grants totaling $667,950.
SWNCBC received awards for $462,200 for new construction homes and $205,750 for rental rehabilitation.
The $462,200 award will go toward constructing two new homes in Grant, Nebraska, the first at 204 Hancock, the next at 604 Garfield. The vacant lots are owned by the Community Redevelopment Authority, which is partnering with SWNCBC.
SWNCBC Executive Director Amy Thelander said the homes will contain three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and will be 1,260 square feet on the main floor and will include a 1,260 square foot unfinished basement.
The homes will go on the market with income limits for buyers, the current income limit being 120% area median income.

NJC, CU Denver partner on early childhood ed degree
STERLING JOURNAL-ADVOCATE, Sept. 25 — Northeastern Junior College has announced plans to partner with the University of Colorado Denver to bring a bachelor’s in early childhood education to Sterling. With a degree in early childhood, teachers can teach up to the third grade.
