Man wanted on Colorado felony charges arrested in Imperial

IMPERIAL REPUBLICAN, Jan. 5 — A man living in Imperial, Nebraska, was arrested Sunday morning on numerous felony charges in Colorado.

The Chase County, Nebraska, Sheriff’s Office, along with the Imperial Police Department, located Edwin Ricardo Nevarez, 20, who was wanted on an out-of-state warrant from Colorado for several felony charges.

Nevarez was arrested at his residence in Winters Trailer Court in Imperial around 8:30 a.m. Sunday and without incident, said Sheriff Kevin Mueller. He was booked into the Chase County Jail.

Last stretch in 2A hoops for Tribe

YUMA PIONEER, Jan. 6 — This weekend’s resumption of the 2021-22 basketball season will mark the beginning of the end for Yuma High School basketball in Class 2A.

Colorado high school basketball is going to six classifications — it currently is at five — for the 2022-2024 two-year cycle.

That meant new classification enrollment parameters, resulting in Yuma going to 3A in basketball. The 3A range is 191-411. The new 2A is 74-190.

Yuma’s enrollment for classification purposes is set at 251.
