Stolen vehicle recovered following chase
HAXTUN-FLEMING HERALD, Feb. 23 — A pickup stolen from a residence just north of Haxtun on Tuesday evening, Feb. 8, was later recovered following a police chase in Perkins County, Nebraska.
In the late hours of the evening, William Klingenfuss, 30, of La Marida, California, found a Chevy Silverado with the keys in it at a home along Highway 59, about a mile and a half north of Haxtun. Klingenfuss entered the vehicle, started it and stole the pickup from the residence.
Later that night, just before midnight, a Nebraska State Trooper observed the pickup speeding on Interstate 80 near Ogallala, Nebraska. According to reports, the trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver did not stop and a pursuit began.

CCS junior remembered as ‘beautiful person, always smiling’
IMPERIAL REPUBLICAN, Feb. 23 — Ashley Camacho-Murillo always had a smile on her face. A former employer called her “happy and fun-loving.”
Imperial, Nebraska, is remembering the junior at Chase County Schools after she died at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood last Thursday from injuries suffered in a Feb. 13 accident near Haxtun.

Council reviews plans for housing at former football field
IMPERIAL REPUBLICAN, Feb. 23 — If Dennis Kunnemann’s plans become reality, the former Chase County Schools football field lying south of East 12th Street between Wellington and Park in Imperial, Nebraska, will have 13-14 new homes.
City council members got a look at Kunnemann’s preliminary plans Tuesday, after a recommendation to move forward came from the Planning Commission.

SCHC has 3,335 baby deliveries to date
JULESBURG ADVOCATE, Feb. 25 — Beginning Nov. 24, 1950, Sedgwick County Health Center has delivered 3,335 newborn babies. Dr. Don Regier has delivered 489 babies as of press time and is expecting one more in the coming weeks. That baby will mark the end of new arrivals in Sedgwick County.
In a recent meeting with SCHC CEO Nick Goshe, he explained COPIC, Colorado’s leading medical liability insurance, recommends that a faciliy deliver 40 babies a year to remain up to date and consistent in the practice of newborns, and the recommendation is a minimum of 20 deliveries per physician.

Robinson gains PBR honor
IMPERIAL REPUBLICAN, Feb. 16 — The championship cup of the Professional Bull Riders was renamed the Jerome Robinson Cup at a memorial service for him at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
Robinson, a Brandon, Nebraska, native, died Jan. 9 at his home in Fort Collins after producing a PBR event at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
He produced PBR events for more than 25 years, keeping him close to the sport he loved. He qualified for the National Finals Rodeo 11 out of 12 years, twice with his highest finish of fourth.
