Haxtun Town Council discusses pole agreement with PC Telcom
    HAXTUN-FLEMING HERALD, Dec. 12 — Mayor Todd Workman and Superintendent Ron Carpenter opened the Dec. 3 Haxtun Town Council meeting with discussion on a proposed pole attachment agreement with PC Telcom and a recent meeting the two had with the organization’s CEO, Vince Kropp.
    PC Telcom connects to many of the power poles within the Town of Haxtun as they do with other municipalities throughout northeast Colorado. Recently, PC Telcom ended a franchise agreement with the Town of Haxtun by dropping cable services to residents. Since that franchise agreement discountinued, which occurred in July, Town officials have been in communications with Kropp to come to terms with a pole attachment agreement between the two entities.

Imperial native experiences H.W. Bush processional at A&M
    IMPERIAL REPUBLICAN, Dec. 13 — Imperial, Nebraska, native Molly Luhrs is a sophomore at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Last week, Luhrs stood along the train tracks in College Station. The funeral train of 41st President George Herbert Walker Bush, who died Nov. 30 at the age of 94, made its final stop there.
    “It felt like the whole town gathered along the railroad tracks,” Luhrs said. “It was a really cool experience.”
    The funeral train took Bush from the services in Washington, D.C., to the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum. The library is on the edge of the Texas A&M campus.
    Students weren’t allowed to be on campus on Dec. 6. “The whole campus was shut down,” Luhrs said. “We couldn’t go to burial or the library.”

Elk Creek Pipeline making its way through Yuma County
    YUMA PIONEER, Dec. 13 — The Elk Creek pipeline currently is being installed through the heart of Yuma County. Crews are right off Highway 59 about 6 miles north of Yuma as the $1.2 billion project continues to snake its way from eastern Montana to Bushton, Kansas.
    ONEOK announced the project in early January. The pipeline will transport natural gas liquids from the Rocky Mountain region to the company’s mid-continent facilities in Bushton. Total distance is 900 miles.
    The 20-inch diameter pipeline will transport up to 240,000 barrels of NGLs per day from ONEOK’s Riverview terminal in eatern Montana to Bushton.

House Dems refocus, rename Ag Committee
    STERLING JOURNAL-ADVOCATE, Dec. 11 — The incoming speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives has changed the name and focus of what was once the House Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources Committee.
    Speaker-designate K.C. Becker of Boulder has announced that the committee will be renamed the Rural Affairs Committee. Becker said the panel will oversee issues of particular importance to rural Colorado such as agriculture, water, rural broadband and rural economic development.
    Rep. Dylan Roberts of Avon will chair the committee, and Donald Valdez of La Jara will be vice chair.
