Nordyke to judge PCAC art show
Ron Nordyke will serve as judge for the 2018 Phillips County Arts Council Art Show.
Nordyke taught art for over 20 years in the Chappell, Nebraska, public schools. Since 1999, he has focused on painting many subjects, commissions and murals, mainly in acrylics. He is known regionally for his “Landscape Quilt” paintings.
Student entries will be judged by Val Gillotte of Haxtun. She spent most of her career teaching art in the Haxtun public schools. She taught art in both elementary and high school and was well-recognized by her students for her creativity in the classroom.
The art show will run from Thursday-Sunday, March 22-25, in the Holyoke High School commons area, 545 E. Hale St. Area artists, from amateurs to professionals, and students are encouraged to enter.
Artwork may be entered Thursday, March 22, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Accepted media includes acrylic, china painting, creative stitchery, collage, colored pencil, drawings, fibers, hand-thrown ceramics and pottery, jewelry, mixed media, oil, pastels, pen and ink, pencil, traditional photography, enhanced photography, scratch art, sculpture, stained glass, tole painting, watercolor, weaving and wood carving.
Judging will be held Friday, March 23, and an oral critique for artists and anyone interested in attending will be offered by the judges from 1:30-3 p.m.
