Once a fan, always a fan
“I couldn’t understand why George would want to go to a big, crowded football game.” But once George Dalton convinced his wife, LaVonne, to try a Denver Broncos game, “I have been hooked ever since.”
That was over five decades ago, and LaVonne and her family still bleed orange and blue.
The Dalton family was honored as 50-year season ticket holders at a special event Sunday, Oct. 1, at the Broncos vs. Raiders game. It’s called Mile High Moments, hosted by former Bronco defensive player Steve Atwater.
LaVonne, sons Mark and Shawn, and daughter Tere were among the Dalton crew that got to see the Bronco Super Bowl trophies up close, take pictures with Atwater and experience a fun question and answer session.
“They have been most gracious to our family,” said LaVonne as she reminisced over the last 50 years.
She and her late husband joined with three other couples to purchase eight season tickets when they were living on the Front Range in 1967.
The Dalton kids grew up Bronco fans, and the legacy is being passed on to the next generation. The family still holds four season tickets all these years later.
LaVonne said she was surprised they got such good seats when the new stadium was built in Denver. The Daltons can be found cheering on the Broncos in the first row of the ground level close to the south end zone.
