One-man Beatlemania show coming to HHS Feb. 15
Paul the Beatle is the latest performer being brought to Holyoke for the Phillips County Arts Council concert series. In a brilliant one-man Beatlemania show, Bob Halligan Jr. portrays Paul McCartney through his career — as a Beatle and as a solo artist — in a singer-songwriter, theatrical format involving music, dialogue and onstage wardrobe changes.
The concert is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the Holyoke High School auditorium. There, spectators can expect a conversation with “Paul” that inevitably leads to the songs so deeply loved by Beatles fans. Through the laughter and the tears (and the clothes), Paul traces the band’s musical journey and his contributions to it, doing so with no backup musicians, only Paul on keyboard, guitar and bass. As group unity frays, he begins to muse about where he might go musically after the breakup. And he even takes requests!
This show is not just any Beatle tribute show. Halligan takes it to a different and compelling level that shines a light on the mastermind of Beatle Paul McCartney. The dialogue enhances the performance, and Halligan’s voice is magic.
