Pedro Jofre is new pastor

Sunday morning church services in Spanish are now being led by Pastor Pedro Jofre at Zion Lutheran Church, 240 S. High School Ave. The service begins at 11:45 a.m., and a midweek Spanish Bible study to be held at the church is in the process of being scheduled.
Pedro and his wife, Erica, recently moved from their home of 10 years, Houston, Texas, to Sterling, where he works at Trinity Lutheran Church and Northeastern Hispanic Mission. Since starting Jan. 29, they have traveled to Holyoke regularly to minister to the local Hispanic community. Originally from Mendoza, Argentina, the couple of 22 years has five children, Camila, Bryan, Cristal, Esteban and Gabriel, who range in age from 8-20 years old.
The couple has been in ministry for years, serving in such places as New York and Canada, in addition to Texas and Argentina. They worked with and supported churches in New York City in 2001, immediately following the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Then in Houston, they worked with an organization that plants churches. Pedro studied at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri.
