The Trego farm, which was 7 miles north and 5 miles west of Holyoke, is pictured around 1905. George and Emily Trego homesteaded on the SE 1/4 of Section 5, Township 8 North, Range 45 West in 1888. The family stayed on the farm many years, during which the original homestead was added to by filing on an adjoining quarter as a timber claim and buying adjoining land that had been given up by early homesteaders. Much of the land was used for grazing, and the family also grew wheat and corn. The farm is now owned by Ryan and Jessica Oliver. — Source: Phillips County Museum
