After 10 years as executive director of A Caring Pregnancy Resource Center of Northeast Colorado, Jan Loesch has officially retired. Matt Ross of Yuma took over the reins Sept. 16.

The Northeast Barrel Association held its summer series finals Sept. 19-20, and Holyoke third-grader Taylor Hendrix won first place in the open 3D, open 4D and open 5D, taking home a saddle from each first-place finish.

Co-managers Eric Sperber and Brad Gerk anticipate an Oct. 1 official licensure approval of their new business, Hyline Seven Commodities. Housed in the southwest corner of the Holyoke Office Building at 143 S. Campbell Ave., Hyline Seven Commodities is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hyline Seven Cooperative Marketing Inc.
Community members, as well as students, will have the opportunity to utilize the HHS library and IBM and Macintosh computer labs on Monday and Thursday evenings, starting Sept. 30.
Tommy and Sharon Thompson, owners of Thompson Mortuary in Haxtun, announced plans this week to expand their business in the building of a mortuary in Holyoke. Tommy said construction will begin this fall two blocks east and a block north of the stoplight in Holyoke, on the site where an apartment building stood until recent years.
Dave and Vicki Tennant of Sterling recently announced that in the very near future, they will be purchasing Thompson Mortuary of Holyoke, located at 241 E. Furry St., from Diane Thompson.

The Holyoke Dragonettes “powder puff” football game next Tuesday evening at Dragon Field should prove real interesting. The event is sponsored by the Holyoke High School Pep Club.
The Holyoke Safeway store reopened for business Wednesday morning of this week featuring a new everyday low price program. The local store was closed Monday and Tuesday to permit clerks to change the thousands of items in the store which will be featured at new low prices.
The Saturday night bath still is an institution in many American homes, studies of water use patterns reveal.

The Holyoke Spur Club is holding a race meet Sunday, Oct. 3, at the Phillips County Fairgrounds for the purpose of securing funds to use in paying Enterprise subscriptions to the boys in the armed service.
Farmers and landowners in Phillips County will receive crop parity payments this week totaling $111,390.27, according to information received by the local AAA office.
Holyoke golfers rallied to the call for a tournament Sunday. A very successful event was had by a large percentage of the membership, with an added membership of 23 getting in on the fun. The tournament was held to promote the sale of war bonds and stamps.
