Phillips County gun range reopened after improvements made using POST grant

After being closed since June 1, the Phillips County gun range is once again open to the public, and it’s looking better than ever. Phillips County Sheriff Thom Elliott pursued a grant from Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training earlier this year to make improvements to the pistol range.

The range is located on the east side of County Road 29, just south of Highway 6, past the Phillips County landfill.

With the $13,000 POST grant, the pistol range was updated to include cement firing lanes. Filling in the space between the lanes is gravel, and a walkway around the range was made with  recycled asphalt.
