Phillips County Players to stage ‘The Bilking of Lord Bilgeworthy’ Oct. 27

Phillips County Players are at it again, this time bringing to the stage “The Bilking of Lord Bilgeworthy or... Froggy Went a-Courtin’” by Charles E. Bright. In addition to providing entertainment at this year’s CineMagic fundraiser, the one-act melodrama will also be open to the public for one showing Sunday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. in the Peerless Theatre.

Lord Bilgeworthy, played by Pete Markle, and his equally unsavory son Phineas (known as “Froggy” to most), played by Maury Kramer, are aggressively courting the extremely wealthy Lady Farnsworth, played by Karen Swan, and her lovely daughter Mary, played by Charlotte Kramer.

Luckily, the ladies have an Amazoian maid, played by Dolly Smith, to keep these mercenary suitors at bay since the women are much more interested in the celebrated war hero Colonel Harrison, played by Eric Conklin, and his nephew, the handsome Captain Browning, played by Jerry Brandt.
