Phillips County records first COVID death

Phillips County has seen its first COVID-19 death. Northeast Colorado showed a 14.9% increase in positive COVID-19 cases since last week’s report, with Phillips County recording 25 more for a 35.7% increase to 95 cases.

The Northeast Colorado Health Department also reported Morgan County with 50 deaths, Logan County 14, and Sedgwick, Yuma, Washington and Phillips counties one each.

Colorado has recorded a 20% increase in positive COVID-19 cases in the past week, compared to 15.3% the previous week and 12.6% the week before that.

Positive COVID-19 cases were reported Monday, Nov. 9, as follows:

­— Northeast Colorado: 3,220 cases (increase of 418 in the last week), including Morgan County, 1,099; Logan County, 1,582; Yuma County, 253; Washington County, 130; Phillips County, 95; and Sedgwick County, 61.

— Colorado: 134,537 cases in 64 counties, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Among people in Colorado who tested positive for COVID-19, 2,408 have died, and 2,179 listed COVID-19 as the reason of death on a death certificate.

— United States: 9,913,553 cases for an 8% increase this week and 237,037 total deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

— The world: 50,459,886 confirmed cases for an 8.3% increase this week and 1,257,523 deaths for a 4.7% increase this week, according to the World Health Organization.
