Play group enjoys painting in the park

Painting was the activity for the day at last week’s gathering of the Baby Bear Hugs play group.
Led by parenting educator Minnie Rodriguez, this weekly gathering of moms and kids is an attempt to do away with isolation, said Rodriguez. Being bilingual, Rodriguez entices both Spanish-speaking and English-speaking families.
Every Thursday from 10 a.m.-noon, the play group meets at Homesteaders Park at the Phillips County Fairgrounds when the weather is nice or at First Baptist Church during the colder months.
The weekly gathering builds a camaraderie and resource among local moms and their children.
The connection often extends beyond the weekly gathering as families plan yard sales together, as well as other activities.
Rodriguez likes to arrange fun activities for the group. They often work on craft projects, enjoy a picnic or pursue other requested entertainment on Thursday mornings.
