Polly Skinner back in Holyoke after being hit by vehicle

Polly Skinner’s leisurely afternoon walk last Monday, May 11, found her being flown to UC Health Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, where she underwent several surgeries.

While she’s still recuperating and very sore, she returned to Holyoke by ambulance Monday, May 18, and will be a swing bed patient at Melissa Memorial Hospital for up to five days.

Skinner said that she was stepping off the curb near Trumper Agency to cross Denver Street about 1 p.m. Monday, May 11, when a pickup coming from the south made a left-hand turn onto Denver Street and hit her.

She was taken by ambulance to MMH, then flown to Loveland. She underwent surgeries on Wednesday, May 13, in which her pelvis was pinned, and she got a pin in her elbow and a plate with screws in her collar bone. All injuries were on her left side.
