Rain doesn’t dampen mutton bustin’ spirit

An afternoon downpour turned the Phillips County Fairgrounds arena into a veritable mud pit last Thursday, July 23, but that did little to stop pint-sized cowgirls and cowboys from making their way into the chute for some mutton bustin’.

Interspersed between the grown-up events at the ranch rodeo, mutton bustin’ drew a crowd of enthusiastic little ones ready to ride some wild and woolly sheep. About 20 kids participated in the two rounds of mutton bustin’ last Thursday night.
