When a family’s in need of a neighborly meal, Michelle Vieselmeyer knows what will hit the spot — her barbecue meatballs. “Everyone likes meatballs!” said Vieselmeyer. This easy recipe with its homemade sauce is hard to beat in cold or heat.
Barbecue Meatballs
3 pounds ground beef
1 small can evaporated milk
1 chopped onion
2 cups quick cooking oats
2 beaten eggs
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
SAUCE:
2 cups ketchup
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 tablespoon liquid smoke
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup chopped onion
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix the beef, milk, onion, oats, eggs, garlic powder, pepper, salt and chili powder all together and shape into 2-inch balls. Place in a greased dish.
In a bowl, combine ketchup, brown sugar, liquid smoke, garlic powder and onion. Pour over meatballs.
Bake for 1 hour and serve.
