Recipe Train

Jill Duester received this recipe from her mom, Dorothy Skinner, who passed it on to the girls in her family. Duester said the secret to this recipe’s success is letting the dough sit in the pan sit for 20 minutes before baking.

Banana Bread

    2/3 c. sugar
    1/3 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    3 T. sour milk
    1 c. banana
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    Mix together sugar, shortening, eggs, sour milk and banana. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
    Let dough sit in pan for 20 minutes before baking. Bake for 50-60 minutes at 350 F.
    Makes one loaf.
