The 2019 Relay For Life of Northeast Colorado campaign got underway Tuesday night, Feb. 19, with a kickoff celebration at Sterling Nazarene Church.
This year’s Relay theme is “Climbing to New Heights,” and co-event leader Tracy Glissmann explained that they will be focused on outdoor recreational activities like hiking and rock climbing as a way to encourage people to engage in healthy lifestyles. The reason for that, she said, is because obesity is now believed to be the most prevalent risk factor for developing cancer.
The annual fundraising event will return to Columbine Park in Sterling on Saturday, June 8, from 4-10 p.m.
