Rising up to raise awareness
The sounds seeping out the doors of Holyoke High School’s old gym might have seemed like an ordinary rock concert, but it meant so much more to band members of Remedy Drive.
During the Friday, April 27, event, lead singer David Zach shed some light on the fight against human trafficking. The band has partnered with an abolitionist group called The Exodus Road to bring awareness to modern-day slavery. Zach himself has spent time in Asia and Latin America doing undercover work to help free teenage girls from the bonds of human trafficking.
He not only talked about it, but sang about it too. Songs on the band’s most recent album, “The North Star,” were inspired by ordinary people in history and today who have fought against injustice.
