Sign up for youth, teen summer reading programs at Heginbotham Library

Summer reading programs are a time-honored tradition in Holyoke. Once a week for about a month each summer, kids flock to Heginbotham Library for fun, games, friends and, most importantly, reading some good books. Both the summer reading program and the teen summer reading program will kick off the first week of June and wrap up July 3.

Program for 4th grade and younger
With an exciting “How the West was Fun” theme, the summer reading program is open to all children age 3 through fourth grade. A registration party will be Wednesday, June 5, from 1-1:45 p.m.
Each following Wednesday will feature a different activity from 1-1:45 p.m. as well. On June 12, there will be a camp out and sing along, June 19 is life of the prairie. June 26 will feature a rodeo theme, and July 3 will be a chuckwagon and prizes for a finale.

Teen program for 5th grade and older registration is June 7
Older kids will have their own program this summer. Anyone going into fifth grade or older is welcome to participate in “Surviving the Library.”
A registration and movie party will be Friday, June 7, from 1-4 p.m. The next two Fridays, June 14 and 21, will be activity days from 1-3 p.m. A finale party is scheduled Wednesday, July 3, 1-4 p.m.
