Spencer Heldenbrand is Firefighter of the Year

    Spencer Heldenbrand was recognized as the Englewood Fire Department’s Firefighter of the Year at an awards ceremony Feb. 3 in Englewood, Florida. Chief Lane and District Chief Stubbs presented him with the honor.
    Heldenbrand began volunteering with the department while he was still a senior at Englewood High School. After graduating in 2010, he continued volunteering until being hired full time about two years ago. In addition to being a firefighter, Heldenbrand is also an emergency medical technician with the department.
