Stop sign, trees will stay, says County

Phillips County rejected a request to remove a stop sign and trees at the intersection of county roads 10 and 29, commissioners announced at their Nov. 30 meeting.
The request stemmed from a claim that trees were obstructing visibility for westbound and northbound drivers. To fix the problem, the County was asked to remove the trees and a stop sign for northbound traffic.
Commissioner Harlan Stern noted that the County put up 30 stop signs over the summer following an accident at a blind intersection last year.

Pavilion committee established
Commissioners also announced they had formed a pavilion promotion committee to provide input on rental of the pavilion.
Members of the committee include Terry Hofmeister, Mike Miller, Jeff Plumb, Kayla Kafka, Deanna Webster, Tim Becker, Dan Waln, Lonny Vernon and Austin Tharp.
The county administration office will be handling registration duties and can be reached at 970-854-3778.

IT services reviewed
In the course of evaluating their IT needs, the County met with Les Archuleta and Jim Edwards of Platinum Technology, which currently provides service for the County.
The board also met with Arlan Scholl and Craig Krueger of Printers Paper & More, who outlined what their business could do for the County.
The County has not yet made a decision on the future of the contract.
