Summer reading program continues with watercolors

Similar to the younger children’s painting day at the Heginbotham Library for the summer reading program, youth grade 5 and older around Holyoke participated Friday, June 18, to learn watercolor painting.

Librarian Kathy Bornhoft had this version of the reading program focus more on community than the quantity of books read.

This program has them reading at least one book and finishing a book report form.

Additionally, the older group received a puzzle scavenger hunt where they have to find inspirational quotes with the library’s stamp on it inside local businesses in town. When they have found the quote, they ask an employee for a puzzle piece envelope with their assigned number.

After they finish the puzzle and their book report, they can win a free swim pass, free movie ticket and a surprise prize.
