Surveys seek input on Phillips County housing

Phillips County Economic Development is currently preparing a new Phillips County-Wide Housing Needs Assessment to determine both the present and future housing needs of the county. As a component of that process, a County-Wide Housing Steering Committee is asking Phillips County residents to provide their opinion on the needs and wants of the community by completing a citizen survey.

The survey asks for input from citizens on issues regarding their current housing situation; issues or barriers that prevent residents from obtaining quality, affordable housing in the county; and the housing types most needed or desired in Phillips County.

Surveys are available to take online:

Hard copies can be picked up and dropped off at Haxtun Town Hall and City of Holyoke.

Surveys need to be completed by Wednesday, Sept. 18.  

PCED is completing the housing assessment with the assistance of Hanna:Keelan Associates, P.C., a Nebraska-based community planning and research consulting firm. The firm is in its 42nd year of serving both communities and counties throughout the region; preparing comprehensive plans, zoning regulations, housing studies, and downtown and redevelopment plans; and assisting communities in implementing both family and elderly housing programs.

In addition to completing the survey, Phillips County residents will have the opportunity to participate directly in the development of the new housing needs assessment by participating in a housing listening session, to be announced at a later date.
