Suspects at large after hotel robbery

Two men robbed Cobblestone Inn & Suites in Holyoke last Wednesday evening, Dec. 19, holding a clerk at knifepoint and making off with an undisclosed amount of cash, Holyoke Police Sgt. Mark Werts said.
The two were last seen heading north in the hotel’s parking lot and are currently at large. They were not seen with a vehicle, although Werts said investigators have not ruled out the possibility of a vehicle being used in their escape. Both are believed to be Hispanic men, approximately 5’8” and 5’9” tall and weighing 150 and 175 pounds.
At around 10:13 p.m., the pair entered the hotel and threatened the on-duty clerk with a knife, demanding the two cash registers be opened. They then took the clerk at knifepoint to retrieve the keys to the registers, grabbed the cash and left.
Holyoke police and Phillips County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived on scene within about two minutes of the hotel’s emergency call. After checking on the clerk, who was not injured, they cleared the building and the grounds but were unable to locate the suspects.
Haxtun Police Department and Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office also sent officers to help locate the individuals. Evidence was collected from the scene and will be handed over to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation for testing.
Werts said the two face charges of aggravated robbery, kidnapping, felony menacing and theft.
