Temps drop 70 degrees in a matter of days

Holyoke went straight from summer to winter with an unusually early cold snap in the second week of September.

Labor Day weekend was perfect for those wanting to enjoy picnics or a day at the lake, with exceptionally warm temps hitting 100 F Saturday, Sept. 6, and 97 F the next day.

Monday, Sept. 7, cooled down to a high of 77 F, with a noticably hazy sky, a red sun and even a bit of ash falling from the sky due to wildfires burning hundreds of miles to the west in the Rocky Mountains.
