Sandi Owens enjoys working on scrapbooks for her family. Snapshots of a couple of her projects are pictured at left and center. Eileen Wagner offers a glimpse of one of her favorite scrapbooking projects, at right. It’s her uncle, David Shaw, during World War II.

These insta-worthy photo albums might not be instant, but they’re so worth it

In 2021, memories are captured by the click of a button and are shared to thousands in mere seconds.

But as convenient as social media photo uploads are, they lack the timeless, personal touch of a photo album perched on a bookshelf.

“Time spent with grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins captured in photos are priceless,” said Eileen Wagner.

After finding more photos to preserve in albums, Wagner’s been regularly working on them every month, utilizing 8.5-inch-by-11-inch colored paper with decals from craft stores, like Hobby Lobby.

She’s hoping her granddaughters will be able to look back on these precious family memories one day.

Sandi Owens has been compiling photo albums and scrapbooks for about 45 years, and she also thinks it’s important to preserve family history for generations to come. “I hope they are passed down generation to generation as part of our family history,” she said.

Owens spends several hours every month working on her scrapbooks, having fun with different kinds of paper, stickers and other scrapbooking supplies.

She pointed out that the industry has evolved over the years, and she’s enjoyed being able to change right along with it as new materials have become popular.
