Three Corners Monument sees historic signing for water conservation

Director of Colorado Department of Natural Resources Bob Randall, at left, and United States Department of Agriculture Under Secretary Bill Northey, center, are pictured signing the 2018 revised Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program agreement. Colorado Secretary of Agriculture Don Brown, at right, was instrumental in negotiations and getting the agreement finalized between the two agencies.  Republican River Water Conservation District sponsored the event at Three Corners Monument east of Wray on Tuesday, Aug. 28. Through the CREP program, producers receive payments from the Farm Service Agency to voluntarily retire irrigation wells. Producers have supplemental contracts and receive payments from the RRWCD.
