Tornado siren testing Thursday, April 11

Residents of Holyoke and Paoli can expect to hear the tornado sirens being tested Thursday, April 11. Testing will take place in Holyoke at approximately 10 a.m. and Paoli 10:15 a.m. If siren testing cannot be completed Thursday due to inclement weather, it will be done Friday, April 12, instead. Haxtun already tested its sirens March 27.
Phillips County will sound the tornado sirens when the National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning. It means a tornado is expected and residents should seek shelter. The sirens will sound continuously for three minutes to indicate a tornado warning, setting it apart from the other scenarios that use the sirens.
When a tornado is no longer a threat, an all-clear siren will sound. It has a distinct 30-30-30 pattern, in which it will sound for 30 seconds, be silent for 30 seconds, then sound again for 30 seconds.
Also on April 11, Phillips County will be testing its emergency alert system from 6:30-7 a.m. A countywide alert will also be tested at 6:30 p.m.
Landlines in Phillips County are automatically entered in the alert system, but  cellphones can be registered to receive alerts, too, at http://entry.inspironlogistics.com/phillips_county_co/wens.cfm.
