Week of the Young Child includes free swimming Sunday
The Early Childhood Council for Logan, Phillips and Sedgwick counties is excited to announce the Week of the Young Child, an annual celebration across the country sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the world’s largest early childhood education association, with nearly 80,000 members and a network of over 300 local, state and regional affiliates.
This year’s celebration is April 16-20. Each day will be celebrated with a different theme: Music Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Working Together Wednesday, Artsy Thursday and Family Friday.
The purpose of the week is to focus public attention on celebrating children and honoring the families, early childhood programs and childcare professionals who make a difference in children’s lives and meet their needs each day.
ECCLPS will be holding events in Logan, Phillips and Sedgwick counties to celebrate the Week of the Young Child in the month of April.
Saturday, April 14, there will be a free swim day at the Sterling Rec Center from 1-3 p.m. Admission is free for children ages 0-17. There will also be activities, crafts, snacks, prize drawings and free books for children ages 0-3 from Logan County Baby Bear Hugs.
Sunday, April 15, a free swim day will be hosted at the Holyoke pool from 2-4 p.m. Admission is free for children ages 0-17. Children under 6 must be accompanied in the water with an adult at all times.
