Women of St. Paul’s celebrates 100 years Sunday in Amherst

Members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst gathered last Sunday evening, Nov. 14, to mark the milestone of more than 100 years of mission efforts for gospel outreach by Women of St. Paul’s, which has been the name of the organization since 2002. Prior to that, it was known as St. Paul’s Lutheran Ladies Aid.

Founded by 14 women who were members of the congregation at an organizational meeting held April 16, 1921, the organization has provided service and support efforts for gospel outreach and charity work ever since.

In focusing on service and benevolent work, Women of St. Paul’s raises funds for many church-related and community-based organizations and supports the needs of the congregation in Amherst as well as other members of the northeast Colorado community and beyond.

Pastor Kurt Hatteberg opened the evening with a devotion, and attendees enjoyed a potluck dinner and a historical presentation that highlighted over a century of mission efforts and gospel outreach.

Members of the congregation were able to thank God for the establishment of the organization and the faith of the women and to give God the glory for the opportunities for service that have been provided while celebrating God’s blessings and gifts.

“Serve the Lord with gladness” is the organization’s motto, and the event provided those present with the opportunity to reminisce and enjoy fellowship with one another as they reflected on a century of service.
