Youth Mental Health First Aid training offered

Centennial Mental Health Center will be hosting a Youth Mental Health First Aid Training for adults who regularly interact with youth. This free training will be Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at Centennial Mental Health Center, 821 E. Railroad Ave. in Fort Morgan.
Mental Health First Aid is an eight-hour certification course where attendees learn the signs of a mental health crisis and a five-step action plan. The goal of the training is not for attendees to become therapists but to learn mental health first aid.
The basic concept of MHFA is that it is the initial help offered until appropriate professional or other help is engaged. MHFA is all about giving individuals the tools to connect someone in an emotional health crisis to the support they need to recover.
