Holyoke voters went to the polls on April 5, 1966, to vote on a bond issue which, with help from School District Re-1J, would be used to construct a new all-season swimming pool. [A drawing of the proposed building which would house the pool is shown above.] The 72-foot-by-129-foot structure would house a 45-foot-by-75-foot pool and dressing rooms. The pool would be used by students as a part of the physical education program during the school year and would also often be open to the public during the school year and full time during the summer months. The building would be erected west of the grade school, the west side of which may be seen at the left side of the drawing. — The Holyoke Enterprise File Photo
