Dragons win first game against Haxtun

A doubleheader against the Haxtun Bulldogs scheduled for Saturday, April 1, was postponed due to weather. Holyoke dominated the first make-up game Monday, April 3, and the second game was scheduled for Wednesday, April 5, at 2 p.m.
Dragons faced Haxtun’s top two pitchers, coach Sam Distefano commented, and the team had great at-bats throughout the lineup.
Gunnar Kroeger started the game on the mound for the home team, and Holyoke kept the Bulldogs at 0. On the offensive side, Dragons took an early lead, scoring 2 runs in the first inning, ending the inning at 2-0.
In the third inning, Haxtun got on the board, scoring a run on a wild pitch, but Holyoke’s defense made the three outs looks easy, with Seth Watson, Tristan Sullivan and Kroeger each catching fly balls. Back at bat, the Dragons rallied. With two outs already, Brenden Kage hit a double, earning an RBI and getting the team moving. Caleb Deaver kept the Dragons alive with a single, and Mauro Morales earned two RBIs on his hit.
