Girls team places 2nd at home invite

HHS track hosted its first of two back-to-back meets Thursday, March 30, with the Holyoke Invitational.
The girls team performed especially well, taking second place overall out of 15 teams and just one point shy of taking the meet with 102 total points. Burlington won overall with 103.
“I was really pleased,” said coach Dusty Sprague. “We were very competitive, which was exciting to see.”
The boys placed 14th out of 16 competing teams with 14 points. Burlington also won the boys’ side of the meet with 150 points.
Holyoke’s Lady Dragons stand out as jumpers and sprinters this year, with Taeryn Trumper taking first in long jump and the 100 meter dash and second in the 200 meter dash. In the triple jump, Josie Herman placed second and Emma Roll third.
The girls sprint relays were tough to beat as well. Herman, Roll, Emily Jelden and Brook Prottsman took third in the 4x100 meter relay, and Herman, Prottsman, Jelden and Trumper were third in the 800 meter sprint medley.
